Pop Quiz, Monday with Nicole Middendorf

Nicole Middendorf

The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.

I want to introduce you to our guest today who will be taking our Pop Quiz Monday.

Can you please tell everyone your name?
Nicole Middendorf

What is your job role?
CEO – so I do it all from the tv to writing, to researching to planning to invest for our clients.

Tell us about your company?
Prosperwell Financial. I left Morgan Stanley in 2003 to go independent as a Wealth Advisor. We help individuals invest and plan for their retirement, their estate, getting their kids to college and helping them work to be happy. Studies show if you spend money on experiences you are going to be happier than if you spend money on things, so we help people achieve their “Live it List” items (bucket list). We use stocks, bonds, CDs, funds, money managers, etc. to help our clients in their wealth management.

What do you love most about your job?
Helping people. Inspiring people. Someone could hear me present and come see me after and be crying in my office (from the death of a spouse, divorce, job loss, etc.) and help them turn it all around and get a plan.

What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
The goal of leaving a legacy. To change statistics. To help someone achieve their goals and dreams.

How do your co-workers inspire you?
Working hard and playing hard. By coming up with amazing ideas and by wanting to help others.

How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
We just moved to a new building I purchased that we have a workout area, wine bar, kitchen, and couches so we can have more potlucks and fun lunches and celebrations. We also do items on our live it list. As an example, there is a Big Club for charity where we are climbing 104 flights. We also are doing an axe throwing, WhirlyBall and various other experiences in 2019.

What are some of the challenges of your job?
Managing everything. Especially as a single mom.

What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
Give yourself grace.
Treat others how you want to be treated.
Give onto others for what you give comes back to you tenfold.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting out in your industry?
Get on a great team.

Thank you for taking our pop quiz today. You get an A+ for effort. You can learn more about our interviewee and their business by visiting them on the web:
