The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.
I want to introduce you to our guest today who will be taking our Pop Quiz Monday.
Can you please tell everyone your name?
Hi everyone! I’m Rebecca and I help consultants, authors, speakers, coaches, and online service providers build their business online so that they can make 6-7 figures, create time freedom, and impact the lives of millions for the better!
What is your job role?
I work side by side with my 1-to-1 private coaching clients and guide them through the entire business building process. Whether they are brand new and we are building their business from the ground up, or they are ready to take their business to the next level by restructuring it so that they can make the income they want and create more time freedom in their life. I provide them with the guidance, accountability, appropriate challenge, and encouragement, as well as design and marketing services to bring their whole online business together. This is my life’s work!
Tell us about your company?
I started Your Business Designer LLC with the vision of making a big difference in people’s lives. I wanted to inspire others to step into the dream that was placed deep within their heart and make it come alive. My life philosophy is that life is too short to NOT be living your dreams. Your dreams are worth the work, because they are possible for you. You just have to take the steps you need to get there. Since starting my business, I have helped thousands of entrepreneurs get their businesses up and running, and I know I am just getting started!
What do you love most about your job?
What I love the very most about my job is seeing how my work completely transforms the lives of my clients. To see them go from overworked and overwhelmed or in a soul-sucking job they hate to suddenly having their own business with more time freedom and making more revenue, is SO rewarding. I love helping others get their message out into the world and impacting the lives of the people they are here to help. I love being a part of that “ripple-effect” of good in the world.
What motivates you to get up everyday and go to work?
Every single day, the people I have yet to touch with my work inspire me to get up and give it my all. Every time I help a new client, I feel like I am helping my dad. If you don’t know my story… growing up, I came from a low-income family. My dad was also an entrepreneur with a huge vision, but my family struggled with money. When my dad passed away, that is when I knew something needed to change for me, and at that point, everything shifted and my new business was born. I suddenly knew what I was meant to do and who it was that I was meant to help. I was meant to help people just like my dad. People who have a big vision and a life-changing message to share with the world, but lack the understanding of how to structure their business to bring them the life that they want and impact the number of people they want. I then made it my mission to help as many people as I possibly can in this lifetime (and leave a legacy beyond) by equipping everyone who wants to start a business with the knowledge of what they need to do to actually make their dreams happen!
How do your co-workers inspire you?
I would say that my team, my own mentors and my community all inspire me in so many ways. They inspire me to continually think bigger and never stop growing the business or myself. Having great people in your circle who build you up and believe in you, are people you have to keep around. These people help you grow to heights unimaginable, and they can’t be replaced.
How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
I have tons of fun at work. While the majority of the world complains about Mondays, I LOVE Mondays! I can not wait to get started at my desk in the morning with a steaming hot cup of coffee in hand and a new project in front of me. I have so many laughs with my clients too. We all jive so well together. There’s nothing like working with clients you love and just showing up and sharing what you know with others and getting paid for it!
What are some of the challenges of your job?
The biggest challenges of my job would be to know when to let go of the good to reach for the great and to know when those times are and just make the shift.
Also, when faced with big decisions in my business, the biggest challenge is to not stay in a state of indecision, but instead to decide and move forward. Inaction leads to stagnation, and that is never a good place to be. Lastly, the biggest challenge I faced, especially in the beginning, was that I was traveling the entrepreneurial path on my own. It just doesn’t work. You won’t get anywhere fast. You need people who understand you and the desire to do what you want to do. As soon as I found my people, my business exploded in growth.
What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
I have so many lessons I have learned over the years. One of the greatest lessons would be to set boundaries with your time, otherwise, your clients and/or your business will be running you. Decide in advance how many clients you can comfortably take on at a time, and STICK to this number. Don’t take on more than you can handle. This does your clients and/or you a big disservice! In my case in the very beginning, it ate into the time I wanted to spend with my family. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. What you do with that time makes up the quality of your life. Your business can be designed to give you time freedom. You don’t have to work with 100 clients 1-to-1 to make 6-7 figures a year. You can work with a handful of high-quality clients and implement passive income streams as well.
What advice would you give to some one who is starting out in your industry?
I will leave you with three pieces of my best advice. NUMBER ONE: Hire a good mentor to help you through this journey that is entrepreneurialism. It will shave years off the learning curve of trial and error it would take you and instead you will be able to accelerate faster! There is no use recreating the wheel when somebody else has already figured out a pathway that works. All you have to do is follow the pathway because believe me, your business will bring enough challenges in itself for you to work through as you work towards your big vision! NUMBER TWO: Implement passive income 1-to-Many paid offers into your business where you can help many people at once, independent of your time. You need multiple income streams coming in from multiple sources. You can create the most secure job for yourself in the world by having your own business. You just need to get your income streams in place. NUMBER THREE: HAVE a vision for your business! You can’t hit what you aren’t aiming for. Make sure you set time aside each week to simply dream about where you are going and gain clarity so that you know what you are working for. Within that vision, know your “why”. Why are you doing what you do? What is it that gets you fired up and passionate in your work? Who is it that you love to help? How can you bring even more incredible VALUE to your clients? Always be tapping into that passion and generating joy in what you are doing. Make every moment meaningful. Make it count. This is your life.
