The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.
I want to introduce you to our guest today who will be taking our Pop Quiz Monday.
Can you please tell everyone your name?
What is your job role?
Digital Marketing Manager
Tell us about your company?
My company is called Powerphrase, and we specialize in web design, digital marketing & app development. We are a full-service agency.
What do you love most about your job?
Working on my own schedule. Have my own autonomy. Helping others businesses grow. Obtain knowledge of other industries.
What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
Looking at and following inspiring entrepreneurs like Gary Vaynerchuk, Tony Robbins, etc., knowing that I’m my own boss and I can create new projects and help people. Grow my own business instead of others.
How do your co-workers inspire you?
By being positive and focused on growing.
How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
We chat. We take the time to know how they’re doing with their personal lives. It can take up a good amount of time!
What are some of the challenges of your job?
Managing demanding clients, revisions to projects, accepting or turning down certain clients that we deem are a fit with us. Also, especially growing their business and meeting their demand.
What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
Somethings that I’ve learned that some clients aren’t worth the trouble. They expect too much and free work to be done. You can tell by the attitude and how much their budget is to see if they’re worth it to work with. Things from revisions and customer service have given me some good experience. An important one is a payment. Being clear about payment is essential. When to charge them and reminding them that they have a balance that they owe you.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
Learn about your industry. How many competitors there are, the prices they charge, what services they offer, and how you can build upon to be better than them.
Thank you for taking our pop quiz today. You get an A+ for effort. You can learn more about our interviewee and their business by visiting them on the web:
