The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.

CPD Box was founded in June 2018 and is an online platform helping CPD (Continuing Professional Development) providers be discovered by Australian architects to book educational sessions through a few simple steps.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the challenge of having to tackle so many facets, such as nurturing the business from development (concept into reality) and then watching it grow and be organically utilised by architects across Australia to self-book educational seminars.
I also thrive in on-boarding clientele and having CPD Box be an integral part of clientele’s go-to-market strategy. All of this is highly satisfying.
What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
The future, for both me personally and also growing CPD Box.
Growing my business is paramount to growing my future, I want to be able to have the freedom in all aspects of life as each year goes by.
Working on my business on a daily basis ensures the next day the business is in a better position.
How do your co-workers inspire you?
As it currently stands, I am a Soloprenuer. However I co-share an office with a best-mate, and we share with each other our aspirations.
It’s nice to have like-minded people around you, who have goals in life for success. These types of exchanges keep me inspired and driven.
How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
Pranks & jokes! Haha, this just made me laugh, I don’t think a day goes by without some funny incident occurring. One time I had my car covered in post-it notes!
It’s so important to keep light-hearted, all this seriousness can become too much and can steer us off course as to what & who we really are.
What are some of the challenges of your job?
Multitasking – it’s a mammoth task of balancing functions of an entire business such as onboarding new clientele, servicing existing clientele, marketing, communication, finances, etcetera but it keeps me happy.
What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
Taking the time out to celebrate & share the successes by really thanking all parties involved for their contribution, and exchanging success stories to help create new enthusiasm and build stronger relationships.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
- Do the basics of research
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions and for help from those already working within the industry. Mentor’s are everywhere and are willing to impart valuable knowledge & experience.
- Be willing to take on board feedback and criticism.
- Use free resources which are generally all around you, e.g., your bank is always willing to supply you with templates such as a business plan or cash flow forecast if you don’t know how to do create these.
- You need to put in the hard-yards to reap the rewards
