Pop Quiz, Monday with Anders Ankarlid

Anders Ankarlid

The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.

I want to introduce you to our guest today who will be taking our Pop Quiz Monday.

Can you please tell everyone your name?

What is your job role?

Tell us about your company?
A Good Company is a reaction to help end-consumers transform mindless consumption into conscious decisions. We are one of the very few climate-positive companies in the e-commerce arena.

A Good Company exists to create elegant, thoughtful and sustainable everyday products.

What do you love most about your job?
The feeling that it will change my and many other kids life into the better.

What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
As a dad of three kids, my primary motivation is to help them to get a better life. We need to challenge traditional ways of doing things within our industry – from what type of raw materials we produce with, how to package and send products, how to handle returns and customer experience. All stones need to be turned to reduce our Co2 emission footprint and still deliver a state of the art e-commerce experience.

How do your co-workers inspire you?
My co-workers are inspirational both in term of their knowledge, but also due to the fact that they also challenge the status quo every day.

How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
We work out together, we share recipes, and since we work 100% remote, we share new experiences every day.

What are some of the challenges of your job?

  1. Create behaviour change from large suppliers that need to act differently
  2. Working with people all across the world and the cultural differences we meet
  3. That what we are doing never been done before

What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?

  1. Launch as soon as possible
  2. Ensure that you really listen when asking for feedback
  3. Be humble

What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
Be very meticulous choosing your IT eco-system.
