The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.

I am President & CEO of Data Talent Advisors, a boutique data & analytics talent advisory
Tell us about your company?
We are specialized data, analytics, & AI talent advisory, helping companies understand the marketplace, help with job description analysis/creation and overall talent acquisition.
What do you love most about your job?
I love that we can help to help fellow peers in the industry better access their next career move and also help companies understand this niche talent marketplace.
What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
I love being part of the hottest industry in the tech sector. Something that everyone is talking about and something that is continuing to change the way we exist every day.
How do your co-workers inspire you?
We are only a team of three, but I really like the different perspectives our team members bring to the table.
How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
We will be planning our 1st team Ski trip this year in Sochi Russia.
What are some of the challenges of your job?
The biggest challenge of my job is managing expectations and helping guide both candidates and companies for career and talent acquisition success, respectively.
What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
We as a company are moving into a monthly billing model for our clients. It is a model that we have clients on, and it is a truly a business partnership helping our clients on many of facets or their journey into the data, analytics & AI space.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
For candidates, I can not stress the opportunity to get exposure to as many tools as possible. The number of tools being used is abundant but some industry staples have emerged, so it is paramount to have this experience for long-term career growth.
For companies, I would 1st ask what they are trying to achieve? Many times companies either want to bundle three different jobs into one or don’t have a good handle of their current job market for these niche jobs. It’s a completely new dynamic when companies are having to lure candidates (who have many options) versus candidates being selected by companies.
