The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.
I want to introduce you to our guest today who will be taking our Pop Quiz Monday.
Can you please tell everyone your name?
What is your job role?
Founder and Chief Luxury Officer of La Di Das Lifestyle, LLC an affiliate of WorldTravelService—a Virtuoso® Member
Tell us about your company?
La Di Das Lifestyle is a full-service luxury travel concierge and lifestyle management firm offering exclusive individual and corporate travel, wellness retreats, event planning, VIP beauty and fashion styling, WITI (Wish It. Try it.) bespoke experiences and investment opportunities in real estate (home/villa), air (private and fractional ownership of jets,) and sea (sail/speed/yachts.) To travel is to live. I established La Di Das Lifestyle, LLC an affiliate of WorldTravelService—a Virtuoso® Member, in 2017 after years in the corporate land of fashion, concierge, events, luxury sales, personal chef service, and the travel industries. The goal of La Di Das Lifestyle is for our clients to spread their wings through luxury and personalized experiences by eliminating the stress and worry of planning. Ultimately saving time. I combine all of my passions and international background to provide a one of a kind experience for clients.
By invitation only, La Di Das Lifestyle offers exclusive individual and annual corporate memberships. The ‘Elite Jetsetter’ is catered towards adventurous individuals and their families constantly on the go, while the ‘Executive Business Savvy’ is specifically for the corporate world and their C- Level Executives alleviating the stress of planning from their support executive, event and travel teams.
Most people have credit cards that offer concierge services like American Express Platinum, but they either do not take advantage of the benefit or notice that most VIP experience offerings are very limited. What I do is, I not only create the personalized, tailored experience that the client wants but provide assistance whenever the client needs. Every La Di Das Lifestyle detail has my own personal touch and is reviewed before delivery. This also means, that I am onsite as the guardian angel or rather the pineapple with wings (given the La Di Das Lifestyle’s logo) removing all anxiety, and handling every desire and last minute wish the client may have. If you accidentally drop your passport in the Dead Sea, sprain your ankle climbing Mount Kilimanjaro or want to propose to your fiancé under the Northern Lights without much notice, La Di Das Lifestyle handles it all with a laugh of course and it will be done exceptionally without question.
If you’ve been searching for unparalleled red-carpet experiences coupled with personality and thrill, La Di Das Lifestyle is your go to. No request is out of the ordinary. In affiliation with our elite partners, my team is committed to providing seamless, confidential, private security upon request and superior service catered to the clients’ individual needs.
Requests range from Private Jet service to Ferrari adventures down the Amalfi Coast. Some of the most popular requests include private Culinary & Wine and Art & Cultural tours to the most rustic secret gems and visits to the most exclusive fashion couture houses in Italy. For the thrill seeker, they may wish to go to Space on the Virgin Galactic, go on an exclusive safari through Africa, Yacht through the Mediterranean, rent a private island in the Maldives or go on a custom built expedition in Peru. For my Yoga clients looking to rebalance and find their inner Zen, I have created week-long Wellness Retreats on private catamarans in the Aeolian Islands and secluded villas in Greece, Hawaii, India, and Thailand complete with a personal chef and masseuse on-site. For the Corporate executive, client requests range from presidential award trips through the Mighty 5 in Utah, to exclusive events designed by the top planners in the industry featuring celebrity chefs and speakers like Richard Branson, to a private concert hosted by Andrea Bocelli in the Coliseum.
I have spent years trekking the globe and going to events, building a portfolio of vendors, having touched and felt everything before selling the romance novel to my clients. Pictures on an affiliate partner’s website are meaningless to me without experiencing first hand. As such I can create custom-built adventures for my clients because of these relationships. I believe that if your heart is still beating, you have the choice and opportunity to fulfill your dreams. Unlock the brilliance of those dreams, and there isn’t a destination or experience you cannot touch. La Di Das Lifestyle is here to help you make it happen as no one else can.
What do you love most about your job?
I can go on adventures, be surrounded by new cultures anytime and have a flexible schedule. Also, La Di Das Lifestyle, LLC is all mine. I am a very proud business owner. When I travel for work and pleasure, my vendors spoil me like royalty. There is a purpose. To experience! To enjoy! To ensure satisfaction! I have high expectations and expect my clients to be treated perfectly. Ordinarily, when I travel to meet new vendors, I go alone. And yes, I am working. Sometimes, I have a friend come along to provide feedback and insight. I look at everything from travel transportation, villas, local attractions, activities, local personal chefs, and security. I genuinely try to create the best in luxury experiences. I also like to see the smile on my client’s faces as they enjoy their dream experience.
What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
I am solely responsible for running a business and making my client’s experiences beyond amazing. This is not for the faint of heart. It is not for everyone. Hitting the alarm is not an option when you do what you love and have to run the show. It’s a drug so to speak. You’re addicted, and you have to be, or you will sink. Don’t sink or give yourself the option. I don’t except anything less than perfection for my clients so therefore I can’t be anything less than perfection. My paid vacation days no longer exist. The standard 9-5 office hours are laughable. La Di Das Lifestyle provides 24/7 service, 365 days a week, yet it is the most rewarding sleep deprived role having ownership of a company I love and can call my baby.
How do your co-workers inspire you?
My international affiliate partners and clients inspire me daily. I have been very selective on whom I am willing to work with. They have become friends and extended family. Those partners and I create one of a kind luxury experiences that no one else can ever replicate. Our brainstorming sessions have included driving and boating around the Greece Isles, driving through the Tuscan countryside for the perfect location for destination weddings for royalty, tasting the best food and wine, stumbling upon the most rustic and unique experiences that will only be shared with my clients.
In combination with their advice and international experiences and my adventurous spirit, respect for the value of taking risks, natural networking skills and infectious personality help me empower my clients to find their inner desires and cultivate and obtain their dreams. In my mind, life should never be boring and without experiencing first hand. The world is such a fantastic place to explore. It is my job to help my clients see it and appreciate it in the least touristy way possible. This is what makes the experience personal and inspiring, to continue traveling.
How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
I travel. I hop on last-minute flights, trains, boats, cars. If it takes me 19hrs to get to a destination I was invited to by a partner and less than convenient for my schedule or sanity; it will be worth the adventure. I am very hands-on with a purpose for my company. The most rewarding and fun part of what I do is the relationships that I have built along the way. I travel the world to meet my potential affiliate partners’ properties and their experiences first hand. Sometimes I visit entirely incognito while other times they know of my arrival in advance, and I am given the royal treatment. How could this not be fun?
Beyond the enjoyment of working with personally selected partners, comes my clientele. 90% of my clients wish for me to be on-site for the majority of their travel and event experiences. As such, I am their personal pineapple with wings (aka guardian angel) for their entire adventure so they can rest assure everything is taken care of to their liking and beyond without multiple vendors disrupting their stay.
What are some of the challenges of your job?
I am the sole proprietor. While of course, I have many partners spread around the world who are incredibly supportive, being a female entrepreneur in my mid 30’s, I face many challenges having started a business on my own. There are financial risks, worries, and fears on simple business strategy, but the bottom line is, you move forward, learn and own what you do! The most important thing is to stay educated, focused and to be flexible.
What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
Drop the fear. Worrying is a complete waste of time. Create multiple back up plans to reduce anxiety. Always keep your phone charged. Also, you should not say “yes” to everything and everyone. Creating partnerships is one of my strongest and most natural qualities. Learning how to say “no” to partnerships and clients that are not the right fit, is necessary if it does not align with your brand. You must not sway away from your business standards. Stick to the plan. Changes can be made along the way. This is very important in the beginning. When you stick to this focus, your offerings will appeal to the right clientele who will bring you consistent, loyal business.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
1) Take Ownership. You are your brand. Be tenacious. Be persistent. Be fearless. Everything you do is a reflection on you and your business and what type of clientele you will appeal to. You decided to become an entrepreneur for a reason. You have guts! Be proud of yourself. Many people are too afraid to take the risk. Get this every changing job done. You signed up for it.
2) Be choosey to whom you listen to. You will receive a lot of advice and opinions from so-called “experts.” Some have merit. Some do not. Some may know the past, current, and future of the industry. Listen closely. My greatest partnerships have come from years upon years built on the relationships and mentorship throughout my career which I am eternally grateful for. Trust, knowledge, encouragement, and honesty are what have kept these relationships strong. There is a select number of these relationships. It’s about quality, not quantity.
3) Start small. Be specific. Be special. Do not attempt to create your “empire” overnight. Focus on your particular niche business and what you know. Differentiate yourself from your competition, become an expert in that area and expansion will follow.
