The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.
I want to introduce you to our guest today who will be taking our Pop Quiz Monday.
Can you please tell everyone your name?
What is your job role?
Co-Founder at Traction House
Tell us about your company?
Traction House helps asset managers raise AUM through digital distribution as opposed to the dated techniques of the past.
With most funds trying to go digital because of recent changes in regulation – Traction House is poised to help them take full advantage of online advertising.
What do you love most about your job?
I believe that there is a direct correlation between how difficult a task is and how much you learn from it. The thing I love most about my jobs is the sheer amount of stuff I learn on a day to day basis.
What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
A desire to create an organization that outlives me.
How do your co-workers inspire you?
By being willing to take this risk with me and give it, they’re all.
How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
We play a lot of sports together. Going to the driving range along when we have something to celebrate is a team favorite.
What are some of the challenges of your job?
Most of my days are spent in back-to-back meetings that I need to be sharp throughout. An exciting challenge I face nowadays is to try and stay alert and energetic on days where I’ll spend 90% of my time strategizing with clients.
What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
There are many – but the one lesson that saves me more often than not is this: Find the truth.
Before trying to fix one of the problems you see in your business – you have to ask yourself what’s causing that problem. There’s nothing worse than spending your valuable time fixing issues only to have them surface again shortly after since you didn’t fix the source.
Think about it this way; you don’t cut down a tree by hacking at the branches, you have to find and chop down the trunk.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
Get genuinely interested in the problems your target audience are having and create a library of thought-leadership content around how they can fix those problems.
The clout and trustworthiness you will build from that content will translate into your first customers and allow you to learn about their business.
Thank you for taking our pop quiz today. You get an A+ for effort. You can learn more about our interviewee and their business by visiting them on the web:
