Pop Quiz, Monday with Nitan Jain
The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.

Tell us about your company?
Vaizle is a competitive social media analytics tool for marketers that gives actionable insights most simply. We have the most customized report builder in the market. We are helping 2500+ marketers over 66 countries.
What do you love most about your job?
Social media analytics is still an immature and evolving market. What I love about my job is that I have to face new challenges and new opportunities every day. This makes life exciting and unpredictable which is something I desire.
What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
Since Vaizle is a SaaS tool, we are working across borders. This helps me interact with people from different countries.
It’s fascinating that I can share their passion for marketing and analytics. I have interacted with marketers from 50+ counties. We share experience and learnings about social media analytics and things like how Vaizle can add value to their business. This is something that motivates me – a global learning.
How do your co-workers inspire you?
I’m fortunate to have such a fantastic team. My co-founders and team members are hard working, passionate and very resourceful. They always come up with extraordinary solutions to some of the most trivial problems we faced in our journey.
How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
Well, we have a very diverse team. We love giving surprises. So, if there is raining outside some of us will order snacks and drinks and surprise everyone. We do celebrate every birthdays, holidays and team wins in our office.
What are some of the challenges of your job?
The idea of being a co-founder and CPO is to be calm in every situation. It’s a product manager’s job to be calm and find solutions to the existing problems in the product, whether it is to develop new features, solving bugs or launching new updates.
What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
Persistence: There will be times when you feel that you got stuck at a time. But my advice to you will keep doing good work, and you will get noticed. It may sound cliche, but it works!
Balance: When you are bootstrapping and working on a tight budget your objective should be to balance your resources for maximum ROI. You will face a situation to choose between a timely launch or a perfect launch for your product. You must be able to balance these two choices throughout your journey.
Execution: Ideas are overrated. If you want to build a successful product, then you should focus on perfecting your execution and setting up processes to achieve it.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
Social media analytics is evolving but very competitive industry. One needs to be sure which direction he/she wants to go. So, my advice will be to talk to as many marketers as you can and try to find your product positioning. You should be able to position your product before you start writing its code.
If you are not sure about your product positioning, then build a prototype and give it to marketers to identify possible use cases and to understand market expectations.
One of the above will work for you. Although, it will again depend upon how well you can execute your findings.
