The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.

I want to introduce you to our guest today who will be taking our Pop Quiz Monday.

Can you please tell everyone your name?

What is your job role?
CEO and co-founder

Tell us about your company?
Good Idea is a new functional flavored sparkling water that cuts your blood sugar spikes from your food (25% average) and helps you “dump your slump” after lunch. Stay sharp and awake. Good Idea enables you to stay away from prediabetes/diabetes.

What do you love most about your job?
The fact that I am bringing a genuinely healthy product to the market that makes a real difference to so many. You know you are on to something when you get e-mails from, e.g. people with diabetes (T1D) that have experienced an actual improvement in their quality of life.

What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
Getting feedback from consumers that see real improvements to their quality of life is extremely motivating. Also, working with a team of highly professional and skilled staff that works together to change the world.

How do your co-workers inspire you?
We have many creative sessions where we try to find new and innovative ways to communicate with our audiences as well as developing non-traditional channels for reaching out with messages and products to our loyal consumers.

How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
We have a Swedish style “Fika” (coffee break) where we sit down and chat and cover personal and work-related issues. Really helps to ensure everybody is updated with what is going on and ideas can be exchanged in a very informal way.

What are some of the challenges of your job?
Our primary challenge is to find new and innovative ways to bring our products to the market. To build a market outside of the traditional retail channels.

What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
I have followed, first hand, how Oatly has developed the coffee trade channel and built a really strong consumer brand with many loyal consumers, before entering retail here in the US and then being able to leverage the brand awareness in retail.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
My advice would be to be prepared for everything to take longer and cost more and that things taking the time can actually be a really good thing as you build experiences and connections that will be imperative for your long-term success.

Thank you for taking our pop quiz today. You get an A+ for effort. You can learn more about our interviewee and their business by visiting them on the web:
