The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.

What is your job role?
Founder and Creative Director

Tell us about your company?
Glue Creatives is an independent creative shop dedicated to providing brands with sticky ideas. We believe that the brain can’t be forced into remembering anything. It erases everything that it finds uninteresting, monotonous or dull.
Since sticky ideas are media agnostic, we dabble in everything from design, print, TV, digital, radio or anything that might be necessary to bring the brand idea alive.

What do you love most about your job?
I love the opportunity to understand and overcome challenges across industries. Ours is perhaps one of the few professions that give you the chance to think like a banker one day and a child buying candy the next.

What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
.After so many years in the business, I still find it fascinating to see how intangibles like philosophy, imagination, and ideas make a difference in the cut-throat world of marketing and business. It is immensely satisfying to see your creative work help build a brand and transform a client’s business.

How do your co-workers inspire you?
In the ideas business, you are constantly looking for inspiration. The more you are open to accepting ideas from anyone and anywhere, the higher your chances of creating work that is fresh, which is why I am always all ears.

How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
There are lots of foodies in the team. Fun for us is invariably finding new places for longish lunch breaks and brainstorming sessions.

What are some of the challenges of your job?
The biggest challenge is to find people with the right balance of craziness and ability to deliver under pressure.

What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
Have faith in your work and be patient. We lost a pitch because even though our work was good, the other agency was offering a much sweeter financial deal. The entire team was understandably disappointed. Six months later the same client called us back and gave us the business.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
Do your homework. Find out who are the people doing the work that you admire and then try to work with them.
