Pop Quiz, Monday with Krystal Boney, Founder at Bean Knights

The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.

I want to introduce you to our guest today who will be taking our Pop Quiz Monday.

Can you please tell everyone your name?
Krystal Boney

What is your job role?

Tell us about your company?
Bean Knights is a bookkeeping firm based in Chicago, IL. We assist entrepreneurs and non-profits with their day-to-day accounting needs.

What do you love most about your job?
I am an artist, so I take breaks throughout the day to focus on my passion. This new approach to my schedule has made me more productive and balanced. If I ever need to catch up on projects, I can always work in the evenings. In my previous full-time roles, I didn’t have the flexibility to do this.

What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
I am now accountable for everything that happens in my business. Refusing to come up short drives me to excel for my clients.

What are some of the challenges of your job?
Getting clients to see the value of your work before they have problems. A lot of people come to me after ignoring their books for months because they find it works too frustrating. The software may increase your efficiency, but it does not help you understand the information it presents to you. I believe nothing will replace the expertise of a qualified professional.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
Talk to everyone! How can you grow if people do not know who you are or what you do? You do not have to limit your conversations to people within your industry or your target audience. I speak to every professional who is interested in a conversation. You never know what a new relationship or connection will lead to.

Thank you for taking our pop quiz today. You get an A+ for effort. You can learn more about our interviewee and their business by visiting them on the web:
