The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business people. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you cannot learn in a classroom. We want to thank our interviewee for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.
I want to introduce you to our guest today who will be taking our Pop Quiz, Monday.
Can you please tell everyone your name?
What is your job role?
CMO — India / Marketing Consultant
Tell us about your company?
Working with a Food tech startup and an AI-based personal assistant app
What do you love most about your job?
Diversity. Working with different segments makes you challenge yourself. It is simpler when you are working for one company catering to a particular segment, but multiple segments/sectors give you a diverse set of challenges.
What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
Being able to do something different/ new is what motivates me to get up and go to work. I get bored quickly, so I need to do things differently. Working with startups gives me that leeway to do something different.
How do your co-workers inspire you?
Intent and action inspire people more than talks…so while pep talks help, when subordinates see first hand that their boss has rolled his sleeves and is in the muck with them, cleaning it up…that’s inspiration served fresh.
How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
We allow people to get pets in office on certain days, and this generally brightens everyone’s days. Besides that, we have regular office parties, drink sessions, potluck…
What are some of the challenges of your job?
Keeping it together is the biggest challenge of my job. This could be across levels or across business partners. Keeping youngsters committed is the second challenge. Youngsters usually lose interest fast.
What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learnt is perhaps in humility. You may be at a senior level, but how you treat your office boy would say a lot of things about you.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
Everyone calls it destiny..but it is your choices that create your destiny. So be bold and don’t regret any choice..there are no wrong choices in life, just lessons.
