Pop Quiz, Monday with Gangesh Pathak, Founder and CEO at Saletancy


The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.

Tell us about your company?

Saletancy is multichannel marketing company specialized in lead generation and appointment setting. We are also specialized in Contact discovery or Contact profiling.

Well, I have lots of things to talk about Saletancy, but I will keep it short. Talking about services we provide at Saletancy, We do b2b lead generation, contacts profiling, Online marketing, Inbound enquiries handling for almost every industry vertical. We also have two unique product free Crowdsourced lead generator platform and Saletancy pipeline. Soon we are coming up in B2B e-commerce domain where business can easily buy qualified leads without much investment, we are about to launch this product.

What do you love most about your job?

What I love is talking to people and creating relationships. Every day I speak or meet to client from different region, different domain, and different ages. I was in 3rd year of B.Tech when my co-founder Ms. Medha and I started up Saletancy. I was not aware how to meet or talk in corporate, In fact, I was weak at English too, but I learned and analyzed myself on a daily basis and improved it. Now I am a better version of me, and I will keep myself updated, Hahaha. Well, I am an entrepreneur by accident, but when I came in this domain I found that I am doing this from my childhood, In fact, everyone does in daily life. It’s confusing, right? Hahaha, let me elaborate.

We are from business development domain our core job is to build rapport and convince how we can solve their current business problem. In our day to day life whether we are convincing our parents to buy something or we are convincing people or selling our thoughts. I have to do what I am doing from childhood in the day to day life, In fact, Saletancy does the same. Isn’t it awesome?

What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?

Because for me, nothing is more gratifying than a happy customer and happy team. You can’t believe for my office is like Home far from home And you can’t believe I get paid to do what you love!

How do your co-workers inspire you?

Our Team believes in our vision, They work for it. I had never seen 10 am to 7pm mentality they work for Saletancy Vision that’s what I love. Such enthusiasm inspires me. Some of them come from far away, but I had never seen tiredness or demotivation. I appreciated how cool and dedicated they are. They are always with me to support whatever situation is there.

How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?

Working at Saletancy is like fun itself, We love what we do. Also Every Saturday we play childhood games, It’s too funny, If someone enters in our office at that time He/she will die laughing on us, You can’t believe How funny we are at that time. Party is also in our DNA frequently we do parties outside we dance together except me, Haha I am not good at Dancing.

What are some of the challenges of your job?

That’s a fascinating question. Saletancy is one of the leading outsourced lead management firm in India, to continue to grow, we are diversifying our approach and expanding rapidly. That means among others to evolve our culture, that is a challenge. Also, marketing is changing rapidly we are also evolving ourselves in resonance with it.

What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?

The two best lessons I would like to share not from Projects of Saletancy, but It is from my Btech life.

  1. The project schedule is your friend.
    A leading cause of project failures is the lack of a detailed project schedule.
  2. Project heroics only lead to project failure.
    Heroes just look good in the movies. Thinking that one individual will successfully deliver a project can only lead to failure.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting out in your industry?

Starting up something on your own is the risk. I am an entrepreneur by accident, but I found few things during my journey as of now which should be taken care by Not only someone who is starting out in our industry, I would like to tell all Coming entrepreneurs and small businesses:

1. If you do not have like minded partner or team, this is going to increase your risk 10 times. Be very selective about Partner with whom you are starting your new business life. Make sure they are aware of your vision and mission

2. Never hire employees on the basis of they can do something specially in case you are a startup, recruit on the basis he/she loves to do what you are offering they fit your culture and should be emotionally invested in your business.

3. Price never matters. Quality matters focus on providing a quality solution, you can onboard client with low cost but cannot retain.

4. Sometimes small good things are happening makes us overexcited we should avoid this may put us on risk.
