The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business people. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you cannot learn in a classroom. We want to thank our interviewee for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.
I want to introduce you to our guest today who will be taking our Pop Quiz, Monday.
Can you please tell everyone your name?
What is your job role?
Owner of YCN Media Group
Tell us about your company?
We are those Geeks who get you the kind of attention you need so people WANT to reach out and engage with you and be a part of your world.
What do you love most about your job?
Actually seeing, face to face….the people I meet, the life I touch and the impact I make.. even when they’re miles away.
What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
Knowing that through my work, loneliness is slowly being eradicated one live video at the time.
How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
For us geeks, fun is finding ways to do things better, faster and a lot more effective.
What are some of the challenges of your job?
Instilling trust in people who are either new to online marketing and don’t trust themselves yet, or people who have been around for a while and are used to doing things the old way.
What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
People want CONNECTION, not CONTENT. So as a business owner, you can let go of the need to produce, produce, produce… and make the shift to truly engaging with people.
It’ll reduce your client acquisition fees, your churn, and your marketing budget, and increase retention, joy, and impact.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting out in your industry?
Research shows that video-chat bonding is the same as in-person bonding. You can use that to create what I call “Intimacy at scale” and build relationships with your audience in real time.
